MGMT 550 DeVry Week 1 Professional Bio

Details:

Most social media websites like LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and others ask you to post your professional bio.

As you are writing your bio, keep in mind that you want to share enough information to create a professional image online, but not as much information as you would on a resume. Too much information that is made public may endanger your privacy.

Your bio should be about 100 to 150 words (about four short paragraphs), should be well organized, and easy to read using separate paragraphs and/or headings for the different types of information provided.

Here are some writing tips:

  • Use your name as the title.
  • Begin with a strong statement (perhaps your mission).
  • Consider your audience. Who do think will be reading this information? Consider what is important to the reader and emphasize those points.
  • Keep it interesting. Don’t be afraid to show a little bit of your personality.
  • Be factual. Cite relevant experiences.
  • Keep it short and to the point. Just cover the highlights.
  • Don’t forget relevant volunteer activities, community affiliations, and professional organizations, if applicable.
  • End with a special interest or anecdote that makes you unique (memorable).
  • Questions to consider:
    • Who are you?
    • How did you get to be who you are?
    • What are you doing now?
    • What would you like to do in the future?
  • Use proper grammar and spelling.
  • You may add a photo (optional).

MGMT 550 DeVry Week 2 Create an Email Message

Details:

For this assignment, you need to create a response to each of the email messages provided.

The purpose of this assignment is for you to apply writing principles while responding to business email. The emails you’ll receive simulate internal and external. Assume that you are employed at the Blue Bay Resort and Conference Center. As you might expect, the culture is fast-paced and fairly informal, with employees relying heavily on email. While speed is important, high value is also placed on precision: All of your email responses should be grammatically correct and error free.

You will play the role of the catering director for the Blue Bay Resort and Conference Center. You took this job five years ago and are busier than you ever imagined you might be—running from meeting to meeting every day. Your only time to respond to your email is during your short breaks between customer meetings. As usual, you have a flood of messages which all seem critical. Your challenge during this assignment is to respond to all of your email and write clear responses.

When responding to each of the messages, consider all of the following:

  • What do you think is an appropriate response to your message?
  • What information do you think should be included?
  • What might be inappropriate for this type of message?
  • How long should an appropriate response be?
  • What would you consider too long?
  • What tone should you use for the message?

MGMT 550 DeVry Week 3 Comparison Report

Details:

Write a 3 to 4 page report comparing the communication strategies of the Facebook pages of two of the following companies:

  • McDonald’s, Burger King
  • J C Penney, Kohl’s
  • Dunkin’ Donuts, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts

  • Target, Wal-Mart

When looking at each company’s Facebook page, use the same criteria to evaluate each of them, which will assist with the compare and contrast evaluation. Your paper should have at least 3 to 4 pages of body text plus the title page and reference page.

Include the following sections:

  • Title Page
  • Introduction

MGMT 550 DeVry Week 4 Oral Presentation

Details:

Please see Course Project tab under Course Home for additional information.

Objective

For the purpose of this assignment, you are the chief information officer for the Stone Goose Company. This is your big chance to be the principle change agent in the Stone Goose Company and to propose a new social media policy to executive management. Currently, your company does not use social media for communication or marketing. You have noticed that the employees, however, are quite fond of social media.

You may use your creative imagination to determine the type of business in which Stone Goose Company is involved. Brainstorm and propose ideas that will help the business improve operational efficiencies, save money, increase revenue or market share, improve guest satisfaction, increase social responsibility, and enhance brand image.

Expect resistance and garner enough evidence to persuade your audience to implement your ideas. You will need to include external research to support your claims.

Week 4’s Oral Presentation should convince Stone Goose Company’s executive management that it needs a social media policy and that you should be given this assignment.

Assignments such as this help you develop business-oriented communication skills and give you the opportunity to practice developing an integrated business strategy for this fictional company. This activity will make the course come alive through the application of the principles from the textbook, course materials, and discussions.

Guidelines

Date submitted

Each slide must have a clear and meaningful title.

All sides should abide by the 7×7 rule of content. That is, no slide should have more than seven bullet points with seven words on each line.

A good presentation should have an appealing and eye-catching background. Be sure to use a consistent and professional presentation theme.

Your text must follow a logical timeline from beginning to end.

You should use no more than two different typefaces. Slides should be consistent throughout the presentation, including format and font size.

Adding meaningful graphics to your slides helps to keep the audience engaged while you are presenting, but avoid using too much animation or any audio clips that do not supplement your presentation appropriately.

References should be listed on your final slide. Your presentation should use at least three scholarly references.

All DeVry University policies are in effect, including the plagiarism policy.
